Health Safety and Environmental Commitment

Environmental Responsibility

The U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green rating system has revolutionized the entire commercial construction industry. Metal is a big player in the growing Green Building Movement. Aluminum’s natural resistance to the damaging effects of climate change throughout the year make it a great construction option.

As Spectrum owner Neil Chrisman says, “We are very much involved in the new Green Building Movement. Our powder facility, with the use of powder coatings, allows us LEEDS certification on projects that demand the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable products.”

Putting the Environment First

Spectrum Metal Finishing has installed a Tellkamp Systems Roxidizer RTO volatile organic compound (VOC) abatement system. This state-of-the-art abatement system captures 98.7% of the emissions from the liquid paint line and sends them to the Roxidizer regenerative thermal oxidizer for destruction.

Tellkamp’s Roxidizer technology converts the pollutants to harmless CO2 and water vapor for an environmentally green painting process. Our VOC abatement system exceeds the maximum available control technology (MACT) standards as set forth by the United States EPA and puts us in the top tier of metal finishing in the U.S.

Capacities and Savings to the Client

Spectrum has two fully automated electrostatic paint lines within a 70,000-square-foot facility — one totally dedicated long length powder line and one dedicated liquid line, both handling up to 33-foot material.

Global Market

As the finished product completes the coating process, it is packaged right off the line. It is prepared to be shipped anywhere in the world from this point. Spectrum has delivered products to Japan, Canada, Puerto Rico, Panama and throughout the United States.
